About Virtur

We know that simulator training provides great learning outcomes when people are operating machines — including driving a car.
That’s why Virtur has developed the program “Biltur Simulator,” which can be played on personal gaming PCs as well as advanced driving simulators. Here, you get to practice driving on Norwegian roads, helping you gain better traffic awareness and prepare for handling dangerous surprises out on the road.

“Biltur Simulator” from Virtur is free and will be available for download on Steam in November 2025. The simulator will be connected to various add-ons (DLCs) that users can purchase and download to train for specific traffic scenarios.
Training with “Biltur Simulator” can also save you significant costs when you later attend a driving school for the mandatory driver’s license training.

FAQ

The basic package is free, including updates. In 2026, Virtur will offer advanced training modules – such as highway driving and overtaking – as well as analysis reports on traffic competence, all available for an affordable monthly or annual subscription.

No. Although simulator training is standard in many industries with great safety and learning results, Norwegian authorities do not yet allow simulators to replace mandatory on-road lessons. Virtur therefore provides programs that teach traffic understanding as preparation and supplement to official driver training.

A driver’s license in Norway costs on average more than NOK 40,000 – and over 20% fail the driving test. A student who has practiced with go-karts, ATVs, or tractors – and developed solid traffic understanding through “Biltur simulator” – can potentially reduce total costs to under NOK 20,000.

No, but “Biltur simulator” is optimized for simulator use. Training in a simulator with the same cockpit environment as a real car gives the best learning effect. However, the software can also be used with other simulators, or on a home PC with a steering wheel and pedals or a game controller. It’s also possible to drive using a keyboard, though that offers a less effective learning experience. See recommended system requirements above.

Yes. With “Biltur simulator”, you can safely experience and learn to handle dangerous traffic situations that can’t be recreated in real life. Even experienced drivers benefit from simulator practice with “Biltur simulator”.

Some driving schools have simulators. Several high schools also use “Biltur simulator” in their driving education. Some gaming centers offer simulators compatible with “Biltur simulator”.

Simracing AS sells simulators modified for traffic training and “Biltur simulator” use: model TR-120S-Virtur. They also sell dual-pedal sets and steering wheels that connect to your PC.
