This specimen belongs to the most well known and scientifically studied group of pallasitesmeteorites believed to have formed at the core mantle boundary of ancient differentiated asteroids. NWA 15971 features beautiful, rounded olivine crystals (up to 4 mm) set within a weathered iron nickel metal matrix
